Privacy Policy

Digimon Generation is a small, independent fan site about Digimon games, cards, and shows. We collect as little information as possible, and this page explains in plain language what that “little” actually is.

What this site does not do

There are no user accounts, no comment section, no forum, and no newsletter. You cannot sign up for anything here, so we have no names, email addresses, passwords, or profiles to store. If that changes in the future, this policy will be updated before any new feature goes live.

Server logs

Like almost every website, our hosting setup keeps standard server logs. A log entry typically records:

  • Your IP address
  • The date and time of the request
  • The page or file you requested
  • The browser and operating system you used (the “user agent”)
  • The page that referred you here, if your browser sends it

We use these logs to keep the site running, spot errors, and investigate abuse such as scraping or attack attempts. We do not use them to build profiles of individual visitors, and we do not try to match log entries to real people.

Cloudflare

The site sits behind Cloudflare, which delivers pages faster and blocks malicious traffic. To do that job, Cloudflare processes your IP address and connection details and may run security checks before a page loads. Cloudflare can also set a small number of technical cookies for bot detection and security. Cloudflare acts as a service provider to us and handles this data under its own privacy policy, which you can find on Cloudflare’s website.

Cookies

The site uses only cookies that are needed for it to function and stay secure. These are:

  • Security cookies set by Cloudflare to tell real visitors apart from automated traffic
  • Preference cookies, if we add features like a dark mode toggle, so your choice sticks between visits

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or cross-site identifiers. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. The site will still work, though a preference you set may not be remembered.

Analytics

We may use a privacy-focused analytics tool to understand which guides people actually read and which ones need fixing. If we do, it will be the kind that works without cookies, does not store full IP addresses, and does not track you across other websites. The data we would see is aggregate: total views, popular pages, rough country, device type. It would not tell us who you are.

If we switch on analytics, this section will be updated to name the tool.

Embedded videos and other third-party content

Some pages embed videos, usually from YouTube, to show gameplay, trailers, or card reveals. When a page with an embedded video loads, your browser connects to that third party’s servers. The video provider may set its own cookies and collect data about your visit according to its own privacy policy, which we do not control. Where the platform offers a “privacy-enhanced” embed mode, we use it. If you prefer to avoid this entirely, you can block third-party cookies in your browser or skip playing embedded videos.

How long we keep data

Server logs are kept only as long as they are useful for security and troubleshooting, then rotated out automatically. We do not keep them indefinitely. Any aggregate analytics data, if we use it, contains no personal identifiers and may be kept longer because it cannot be tied back to you. Cloudflare and video platforms retain data on their own schedules.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to how it is processed, or to complain to a data protection authority. In practice, because we do not have accounts or any way to link log entries to a named person, there is usually nothing identifiable for us to return. We will still take every request seriously and respond honestly. Reach us through the contact details published on this site.

Children

Digimon Generation is written for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information in some way, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

This policy will change as the site grows. Adding a newsletter, a comment system, or analytics would each require an update. When we make a meaningful change, we will revise the text on this page and note the date of the update. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.

Contact

Questions about privacy on Digimon Generation can be sent using the contact method listed on the site. We are a small operation, so replies may take a few days, but you will get one.
