Alphamon

Alphamon is a Mega-level, Vaccine-attribute Holy Knight and one of the legendary Royal Knights. It sits at the top of the Dorumon line, and with the dragon blade Ouryuken in hand it becomes Alphamon Ouryuken. You can raise both in the Digimon Story games, including Cyber Sleuth and Time Stranger.

Who is Alphamon

Alphamon is the Royal Knight that the other Royal Knights fear. Official lore describes it as a phantom knight whose seat among the Knights usually stays empty. It appears only when the order loses its way. Its signature ability, Alpha In-Force, lets it finish an action before an opponent even registers that time has passed.

The name is deliberate. Alpha and Omega bookend the Greek alphabet, and Alphamon is the counterpart to Omnimon (Omegamon), the fan favourite that debuted in the Digimon Adventure film era. Alphamon arrived in 2005 alongside the Dorumon line in Digital Monster X-Evolution and Digimon World 4. Fans of black armour and big swords have treated it as a top-tier pick ever since.

A note on levels: the English “Mega” corresponds to the Japanese “Ultimate” level. Alphamon’s Japanese name is also Alphamon, so you won’t need a translation for this one.

• Holy Sword Grade Alpha (Seiken Grade Alpha): Alphamon conjures a blade of light from a magic circle and cuts through its target.
• Digitalize of Soul: It summons a magic circle and unleashes a blast of power from it.
• Alpha In-Force: A passive ability rather than an attack. It lets Alphamon act within an instant of time, which is why it beats almost anyone to the first strike.

As Alphamon Ouryuken, it wields the Ouryuken. Profile lore says that holy sword is formed from Ouryumon, a dragon Digimon that gives itself up as the blade. Its finisher is Ultimate-Battle-Blade-OURYUKEN (Kyūkyoku Senjin Ouryūken).
