Who is Mastemon
Mastemon takes the oldest rivalry in the Gatomon (Tailmon) family tree and turns it into a single Digimon. Angewomon is a Vaccine-attribute Ultimate and one of the purest holy Digimon in the franchise. LadyDevimon is a Virus-attribute Ultimate and her dark mirror. Long-time fans remember the two fighting in Digimon Adventure (1999). Mastemon is what happens when those opposites stop fighting and merge. The design wears that split openly, with angelic and demonic halves sharing one frame.
The name comes from Mastema, a figure from the Book of Jubilees. In that text, Mastema is a spirit who leads a group of demons but acts only with God’s permission. That makes him a servant of heaven who works through darkness, and it fits a Digimon built from one angel and one devil. Bandai has a history of borrowing from angelology for its holy Digimon, and Mastemon is one of the cleverest picks. The source fits the concept perfectly.
Evolution line
Mastemon has no single-Digimon pre-evolution in any medium we cover here. It is a DNA form. That means its “line” is really two lines that meet at Mega. The tables below split this by medium, because requirements and routes differ between the anime, the games and the card game.
Level names across languages

The confusing part is that Japanese “Ultimate” equals English Mega. When a Japanese source calls Mastemon an Ultimate, it means the same level as an English Mega.

In the anime, Mastemon’s story is anchored in its parents rather than in a long run of its own episodes. The two halves have well-known anime history.

Any extra stat or level thresholds appear on the game’s evolution screen when you select the pair. Read them there instead of trusting a number from an old forum post, because the Cyber Sleuth games and Time Stranger use different stat systems.
Card game
In the Digimon Card Game (2020), Mastemon is printed as a DNA digivolution card. You get it by stacking it onto Angewomon and LadyDevimon cards in play, which mirrors the games. Exact card numbers, play costs and DNA costs vary by printing. Check the specific card text before you build around it, since DNA requirements are spelled out on each card.
How to get Mastemon in the Digimon Story games
- Raise a Gatomon (Tailmon) and digivolve it to Angewomon.
- Raise a second Digimon into LadyDevimon.
- Level both and meet any requirement shown on the evolution screen.
- Select DNA digivolution and pair Angewomon with LadyDevimon.
- Confirm, and both parents merge into Mastemon.
Tamer tip
DNA digivolution merges both parents into one Digimon, so you lose two party members and gain one. If you want to keep an Angewomon on the team for healing or holy damage, raise a spare Gatomon before you fuse.
Signature attacks
Mastemon’s own technique names vary between the card game, the Digimon Reference Book and each game’s skill list. Some games rename moves or give them generic skill names. For that reason, this file sticks to what you can rely on. Open the Digimon’s details page in your game and check its signature move and learnable skills there.

In the Digimon Story games, a light and dark hybrid is a useful answer to enemies that resist one or the other. Here is how to think about it on your team:
- Coverage first. A Digimon that can hit with both light and dark damage gives you an answer to more enemy types without a party swap.
- Check its resistances. Each game shows element resistance and weakness on the Digimon’s profile. Read Mastemon’s before a boss fight instead of assuming it shares Angewomon’s resistances.
- Plan its skills. In the Digimon Story games, you can keep useful skills learned on the way up. Teaching Angewomon support moves before you fuse is a common way to give the Mega more options.
