Omnimon
Omnimon (Omegamon in Japan) is the Mega-level Holy Knight born when WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon DNA Digivolve, and a founding member of the Royal Knights. We first saw it in the 2000 film Digimon Adventure: Our War Game!, where it stopped Diaboromon, and it has anchored every Adventure continuation since. Who is Omnimon
Omnimon is the fusion of the two strongest Adventure partners, WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon, combined through DNA Digivolution (Jogress in Japanese). Its right arm carries WarGreymon’s head and houses the Grey Sword, its left arm carries MetalGarurumon’s head and houses the Garuru Cannon, and a white cape flows from its shoulders. In the official Digimon Reference Book profile it is listed as a Mega-level Vaccine Holy Knight and a member of the Royal Knights, the order of thirteen that guards the Digital World’s network.
The name says everything about its role. Omega is the final letter of the Greek alphabet, and the Japanese profile frames it as the Digimon that ends things. The English dub swapped that for “Omni”, as in all-encompassing, which is why you will see both Omnimon and Omegamon used for the same Digimon (and the occasional “Omegon” in search bars, which is just a shortened misspelling). Whichever name we use, this is the Digimon that defined what a Mega could look like for a whole generation of Tamers.
Evolution line
Omnimon has no natural single-line evolution. Everywhere it appears, it is a combination of two Digimon, and the specifics of that combination change by medium. We have split it out below so nothing gets mixed up.
Anime
The anime has been remarkably consistent about where Omnimon comes from, with one notable exception in the 2020 reboot.

That 2020 reboot moment deserves a highlight. Tai and Matt meet for the first time, Greymon and Garurumon merge mid-battle, and a form of Omnimon turns up at the very start of a 67-episode series, long before its full Ultimate Warrior appearance in episode 66. Nothing in the original 1999 Adventure prepared us for the franchise mascot showing up before the kids even reach the Digital World.
Digimon Story games
The Digimon Story games treat Omnimon as a DNA Digivolution target, and that is where most of the search traffic for “how do I get Omnimon” comes from. The games also pile on variants that the anime never touched.

We have deliberately left the raw stat numbers out of this table. They differ between Cyber Sleuth and Hacker’s Memory, and Time Stranger reworked the whole personality and conversion system, so quoting one set of figures would mislead half of you. Open the Field Guide entry for Omnimon in your version and the game shows the requirements in red until they are satisfied.
How to get Omnimon in Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth
- Raise one line to WarGreymon (Agumon, Greymon, MetalGreymon is the classic path).
- Raise a second line to MetalGarurumon (Gabumon, Garurumon, WereGarurumon).
- Level both Megas and check the Omnimon page in the Field Guide for the remaining stat conditions.
- Open DNA Digivolution at the DigiLab and select WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon.

DNA Digivolution in the Story games consumes both partners and hands you one Omnimon. If you want WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon on your roster alongside Omnimon, build four Digimon, not two, or wait until you have spare ABI to de-digivolve and rebuild.

Card game
The Digimon Card Game (the 2020 Bandai game, not the older Hyper Colosseum or Digi-Battle sets) uses a dedicated DNA Digivolution mechanic for Omnimon, and it is one of the reasons the first set is still remembered fondly.

Omnimon has been reprinted and reimagined many times since BT1, with X Antibody, Zwart Defeat and Merciful Mode versions in later boosters and promos. In Our War Game! we see both at full effect. Omnimon freezes Diaboromon’s clones with Supreme Cannon, and once the flood of emails from children worldwide slows Diaboromon down, Transcendent Sword goes straight through its head. That one-two combination is the template every later Omnimon fight follows.
Omnimon does not carry the missiles of MetalGarurumon or the Dramon Killer claws of WarGreymon in any medium; those weapons are folded into the cannon and the sword respectively. Its WarGreymon arm also carries a dedicated shield, the Brave Shield Omega, alongside the cape, and the Reference Book profile describes it as a multitype warrior that can fully demonstrate those abilities for any given situation.

Our War Game! was directed by Mamoru Hosoda, who later reused its structure for Summer Wars, and it was folded into the North American release Digimon: The Movie in October 2000. Watching Our War Game! today is easy; our “digimon hulu” piece walks through which streaming services carry the Adventure films and series in each region.
In Japan, Omnimon is voiced by Chika Sakamoto and Mayumi Yamaguchi speaking in unison, the actors for Agumon and Gabumon. The English dub does the same trick with Lex Lang and Kirk Thornton, the voices of WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon. The layered voice is a small production detail that sells the fusion better than any visual.

On the virtual pet side, Omegamon was already in the Digimon Pendulum ZERO Virus Busters toy in Japan in 2000, making it one of the few Digimon that debuted on screen and on a wrist the same year. Card game sets
The Digimon Card Game gave Omnimon the first DNA Digivolution card in the game with BT1-084, and the fifth booster was named Battle of Omni in its honour. Later releases added X Antibody, Zwart Defeat and Merciful Mode printings, and Omnimon-focused starter and promo cards continue to appear. If you are pricing a collection, check the exact card number and rarity, since the BT1 secret rare and the later reprints sit at very different values.
Omnimon variants: X, Zwart, Zwart D and the rest
Search for “omnimon x”, “omegamon zwart” or “omegamon zwart d” and you are asking about four different Digimon that share one chassis. Here is how they differ, and where each is confirmed.
Omnimon X (Omegamon X-Antibody)
Omnimon X is the standard Omnimon after absorbing the X-Antibody, with sharper armour, a longer cape and an X mark on its body. Its defining ability is All Delete, shown in X-Evolution, which wipes out everything around it including itself and leaves only what should remain. In that film it acts as a Royal Knight carrying out Yggdrasil’s orders alongside Magnamon, and its clash with Alphamon is the climax of the story.
Omnimon Zwart (Omegamon Zwart)
Zwart is Dutch for black, and that is exactly what this is: Omnimon with black armour and the same sword and cannon arms. The Reference Book keeps it as a Mega-level Holy Knight. It originated in Japanese arcade and game material rather than the anime, and the Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth games are the easiest place for English-speaking players to raise one.
Omnimon Zwart D (Omegamon Zwart DEFEAT)
This is the dark one. Zwart D is an Omnimon Zwart that has fallen to the Virus attribute, with a purple and black colour scheme and a profile that paints it as a knight who lost its way. In Hacker’s Memory it is reached by digivolving Omnimon Zwart further. It is the only Omnimon form in the Story games with the Virus attribute, which changes which of your other Digimon it pairs well with in battle.
Omnimon Merciful Mode
Introduced in the final chapter of Digimon Adventure tri., Merciful Mode is Omnimon strengthened by the bonds of the DigiDestined and their Digivices, with a reworked sword and a more streamlined silhouette. It exists to end the Ordinemon crisis and has since appeared on cards and in mobile titles. Omnimon Alter-S and Alter-B
Both are game-born. Alter-B is the DNA Digivolution of BlitzGreymon and CresGarurumon, the Virus-side mirrors of WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon, and Alter-S is the form it reaches afterward. In the Digimon Card Game, Alter-S headlined BT5 Battle of Omni as a secret rare, which pushed it from an obscure mobile-game design into something most players recognise.
Trivia
- Omnimon was designed as the climax of Our War Game!, a 40-minute film, and nothing in the 1999 television series hinted that WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon could fuse. The Jogress concept itself dates back to the second virtual pet, Digimon Pendulum, and Our War Game! was the first anime to show it on screen before it became a core mechanic in Digimon Adventure 02.
- The English name change to Omnimon is one of the few dub renames that stuck in official English games and cards. Bandai uses Omnimon on every English-language Digimon Card Game print and in the Digimon Story localisations.
- The Royal Knights were not an established group when Omnimon debuted. The order of thirteen was built up across the X-Antibody era, and Omnimon’s membership was confirmed through the Reference Book and X-Evolution rather than the Adventure films.
- In Revenge of Diaboromon, Omnimon hands its sword to Imperialdramon Fighter Mode, creating Imperialdramon Paladin Mode. It is one of the only times a Digimon has literally passed a weapon to another on screen.
- Our War Game! is remembered in Japan as much for its ending song as for Omnimon. Ai Maeda’s “Bolero” plays over the final moments, while the series’ opening “butter-fly song” by Koji Wada remains the anthem fans associate with the original DigiDestined.
- Omnimon’s twin-voice casting has survived every incarnation. Even in the 2020 reboot, with a new cast for the partners, the fused voice is still the Agumon and Gabumon actors speaking together.

Is Omnimon the same as Omegamon?
Yes. Omegamon is the original Japanese name and Omnimon is the English name used by the dub, the localised games and the English Digimon Card Game. Both refer to the same Mega-level Vaccine Holy Knight. “Omegon” is simply a common misspelling.
What level is Omnimon?
